Real Estate: Scott Rudin will produce "Hillary and Clinton", a play by Lucas Hnath ("A Doll's House: Part 2") about the 2008 New Hampshire Primary, on Broadway this spring starring Laurie Metcalf as Hillary Clinton and John Lithgow as Bill Clinton; Joe Mantello directs (theatre TBD); Michael Riedel reports that the Public Theater's "Girl from the North Country" is eyeing the Walter Kerr Theatre for a Broadway transfer; and London's "TINA: The Tina Turner Musical" is poised to cross the pond in fall 2019
Genius: it's official, though theatre audiences have known for awhile, playwright Dominique Morisseau has been named a MacArthur Foundation "Genius Grant" recipient; I'm looking forward to her book for the forthcoming Temptations musical "Ain't Too Proud" opening at the Imperial Theatre this spring (read my reviews of "Pipeline" and "Paradise Blue")
