News: after 15 years, the New York Musical Festival has shut down; Ciara Renée and McKenzie Kurtz will be the next Elsa and Anna in "Frozen" on Broadway; Stephanie J. Block and Linda Lavin will star in Sarah Silverman's autobiographical musical, "The Bedwetter", at Atlantic Theater Company; Ben Cook has left "West Side Story" following an injury; Jake Gyllenhaal will produce and star in a film adaption of Jeanine Tesori and Lisa Kron's 2015 Tony Award winning best musical "Fun Home", directed by Sam Gold; check out the full cast announcements for "Diana" and "Flying Over Sunset"; and Laura Linney will record an audiobook of "My Name is Lucy Barton"
Development: "The Nanny" is being developed into a Broadway musical by Fran Drescher (who will not star!) and Rachel Bloom; "Moonshine", a new musical based on the TV series "Hee Haw" is in development; and film director Jay Roach is writing an "epic" musical inspired by the work of Busby Berkeley
Rumor: Idina Menzel might be "the greatest star" for the first Broadway revival of "Funny Girl", directed by Michael Mayer; Britney Spears' musical, "Once Upon a One More Time", is rumored for the Marquis Theatre this summer; Anne Hathaway and Kit Harrington are in talks to do John Logan's new play, "Double Feature", on Broadway; and rumor has it Elaine May and Frank Langella will helm a new production of A.R. Gurney's "Love Letters" off-Broadway
