News: the long-rumored film adaption of "Sunset Boulevard" the musical will go into production this fall with Glenn Close recreating her Tony Award winning stage turn under the direction of Rob Ashford; following an injury in rehearsal, Andrea Martin has departed "Gary" and been replaced by Kristine Nielson (Julie White joins the company to fill Kristine's prior role); English songwriter and singer Morrissey will play a limited engagement at Broadway's Lunt-Fontanne Theatre this May; "Tea at Five" starring Faye Dunaway will now play Boston prior to Broadway; Richard Bean's hit 2012 play "One Man, Two Guvnors" will be adapted for film; Cynthia Erivo will star in a new Rip van Winkle-inspired movie musical by Josh Gad; and the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts will debut a new exhibit on legendary director and producer Hal Prince this fall
Development: the Broadway-bound all female version of David Mamet's "Glengarry GlenRoss" appears to still be in the mix; Duncan Sheik and Steven Sater report they have a whopping six new musicals in development; amusical version of "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" will premiere in London; "Tyrell", a "Game of Thrones" prequel musical, will receive a workshop; and the TV series "Nashville" will be adapted for the stage
Controversy: after productions of "To Kill a Mockingbird" using the 1991 adaptation by playwright Christopher Sergel were ordered to be shut down, Broadway producer Scott Rudin will allow these companies to use the new Aaron Sorkin adaption currently playing to sold out audiences at the Shubert Theatre

RIP: four time Oscar and ten time Grammy winning composer André Previn, who penned the score for the 1969 musical "Coco", is dead at 89; and Tony-nominated actress Katherine Helmond, best known for her TV roles on "Who's the Boss?" and "Soap", is dead at 89
