Development: rocker Melissa Etheridge is composing the score for a musical adaption of the 1988 film "Mystic Pizza"; acclaimed playwright David Henry Hwang ("M. Butterfly", "Soft Power") is penning the script for a live action Disney remake of "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" with songs by Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz; Tony Hawk is spearheading a musical adaptation of Nick Hornsby's 2007 novel "Slam", about a troubled kid finding community in the world of skateboarding, written by Mark Mothersbaugh (of Devo fame) and Kyle Jarrow ("SpongeBob SquarePants); and Jason Robert Brown's new musical "Farewell My Concubine", based on the 1993 Chinese film, will get a reading in February
