- What isn't Lin-Manuel Miranda doing these days? The "Hamilton" creator will appear in Disney's "Mary Poppins Returns", is set to star in the BBC's series "His Dark Materials", will direct a film adaptation of Jonathan Larson's "Tick, Tick ... Boom!", and will create a new FX mini-series about Bob Fosse and Gwen Verdon starring Sam Rockwell and Michelle Williams; to top it all off, Lin and his fellow "Hamilton" creators will receive the 2019 Kennedy Center Honors, the first time this honor is being given to a contemporary work of art, instead of as a lifetime achievement
- Nicolette Robinson will make her Broadway debut as Jenna in "Waitress", replacing Katharine McPhee and becoming the first actor of color to play the role
- Daniel Alexander Jones' enigmatic alter-ego Jomama Jones is returning for a reprise production of "Black Light" Off-Broadway this fall; read my review of the Joe's Pub production from last spring
- Matt Doyle will star in a new musical called "The Heart of Rock & Roll" featuring music by Huey Lewis and the News
