- Holy Cabooses! In the shock of the season, "Hello, Dolly!" will close on August 25th, following a six-week return engagement of Bette Midler and David Hyde Pierce; Bernadette Peters and Victor Garber depart July 15th (read my review); a national tour starts in the fall, starring Betty Buckley
- Producer Scott Rudin has countersued the estate of Harper Lee, in a legal battle that threatens to delay or cancel the planned Broadway staging of "To Kill a Mockingbird" by Aaron Sorkin
- Playwright Martyna Majok ("queens") won the 2018 Pulitzer Prize for Drama for her play "Cost of Living", which played at Manhattan Theatre Club last summer; her next play, "Sanctuary City", will premiere in New York Theatre Workshop's 2018-2019 season
- “Hadestown”, the new musical about the Orpheus and Eurydice myth, will play London's National Theater this fall, before heading to Broadway in 2019; this is one to watch
- "Empire Records" is in development for a stage musical; as is "Nanny McPhee"
- Sara Bareilles ("Waitress") and Josh Groban ("Great Comet") will host the Tony Awards, Sunday June 10th on CBS at 8pm ET
