Harper Lee's estate has filed a lawsuit over the, perhaps now ill-fated, forthcoming Broadway production of "To Kill a Mockingbird", claiming that writer Aaron Sorkin's "adaptation deviates too much from the novel, and violates a contract, between Ms. Lee and the producers, which stipulates that the characters and plot must remain faithful to the spirit of the book"The Metropolitan Opera officially fired famed conductor James Levine following an investigation that found "credible evidence" he had engaged in "sexually abusive and harassing conduct"; Mr. Levine is suing the Met Opera as the scandal continues After 20 years and 100 revivals, "Musicals Tonight! ", which presents an annual season of forgotten musicals, is ending ; similarly, The Actors Company Theatre , which produces "great plays of literary merit", is also closing up shop following their 25th anniversary season this spring (read my review for "Three Wise Guys" , their final show) In the never ending cycle of new musicals in development, here are three more to watch: an unnamed musical based on the life of Joy Mangano , inventor of the Miracle Mop, as seen in the 2015 film "Joy"; " Tennessee Whiskey: The Musical", a new juke box musical using the songs of Dean Dillon ; and "Dangerous", an original jazz age musical Susan Stroman's musical collaboration with Ahrens and Flaherty, "Little Dancer", once Broadway-bound, will receive a new production at Seattle's 5th Avenue Theatre in 2019 Tony-winner Sammy Williams , the original Paul in "A Chorus Line" , is dead at 69 Check out this stirring mashup of songs from "Hamilton" and "Dear Evan Hansen" performed by Lin-Manuel Miranda and Ben Platt; a portion of the proceeds go to the March for Our Lives Foundation
