- "Hangmen" is a hit! The sold out Off-Broadway run of Martin McDonagh's new play, which opened to rave reviews last week, is reportedly planning a transfer to Broadway's Cort Theatre in time for the April 26th Tony deadline (read my review); and London's smash hit "The Ferryman", by Jez Butterworth, will play the Bernard Jacobs Theatre this fall, with an October opening (read my short review of the London production)
- Meanwhile, it's looking like Al Pacino may be returning to the Great White Way as playwright Tennessee Williams in a new play, "God Looked Away", which just started performances at the Pasadena Playhouse co-starring Judith Light
- Whoopi Goldberg's got her eye on the role of Dolly Levi, as Bernadette Peters steps into the role and ticket sales slide following Bette Midler's record-breaking juggernaut run
- "Wicked" is now the seventh longest running musical in Broadway history
- Broadway's beloved five time Tony nominee Jan Maxwell ("Follies") has died at 61 after a long battle with cancer; and longtime Steppenwolf Theatre Company member, and 1986 Tony winner, John Mahoney (best known for "Frasier") has died at 77
